Iowa State University awards thousands of scholarships each year to incoming students. Some awards are automatic while many require an application. Scholarships are offered through a variety of sources at Iowa State, so make sure you explore all your options.

First-year awards

First-year students can be considered for academic scholarships simply by submitting an application for admission.

Transfer awards

Iowa State offers special scholarships to transfer students. These awards are provided to students who meet various qualifications.

Transfer Expedition Awards

The Expedition Award is automatically awarded to all transfer students who are residents of Illinois or Minnesota.

International merit awards

International merit scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated strong academic achievement and outstanding talent or achievements.

International Excellence Awards

International first-year students who have been offered admission will be automatically awarded these renewable merit scholarships for high achieving applicants based on the High School GPA and SAT or ACT scores submitted.

University scholarships

With Iowa State OneApp scholarship portal, undergraduate students can submit scholarship applications in one system. The Office of Student Financial Aid, academic colleges and departments, and other campus units will use the information available in OneApp to select scholarship recipients.
